Who should be friends according to both Derry an Mr. Lamb?

Derry feels that friends are only those people whom he has known for a long time and those who have explicitly stated that they are friends with him. On the other hand, Mr Lamb feels that anybody he has spoken to or met automatically becomes his friend.
