Ashoka was a the most famous ruler of Mauryan empire. He is one of the greatest ruler to have existed on Indian subcontinent. He did the following for our country :

  • He gave up war and propagated the value of his Dhammapolicy.
  • He started the concept of Welfare state which was realised by present government in India.
