Who was the another man in the storm?

The other man in the storm was alike a guardian angel for the writer. He was a pilot who guided the disoriented writer to land safely at an airfield. In reality, there was nobody there. So, the other man could have been a figment of the writer's imagination, his consciousness guiding him to safety.
