1. Who were the Liberals ,Radicals, Conservatives.

Dear Student

Liberals:
1. They wanted secularism, safeguarding the rights of individuals against governments and opposed the uncontrolled power of dynastic rulers.
2. They argued for a representative, elected parliamentary government.
3. They wanted interpretation of the laws by a well trained judiciary that was independent of rulers and officials.
4. They did not believe in universal adult franchise and wanted the right to vote for only the men of property.
5. They did not support the granting of voting rights to women.

Radicals
1. They supported women’s suffrage movements.
2. They opposed the privileges of great landowners and wealthy factory owners.
3. They disliked the concentration of power in the hands of few but were not against the existence of private property.
4. They believed in universal adult franchise . They felt all citizens should have the right to vote .

 Conservatives
1. Conservatives were the supporters of the monarch or the old system .
2. In the eighteenth century , conservatives had been generally opposed to the idea of change .
3. By the 19th century , they accepted that some change was inevitable.
4. They believed that the past had to be respected and change had to be brought about through a slow process.
