Who were the sangams organised?

Some of the ancient works in Tamil were known as Sangam literature which was composed around 2300 years ago. The texts  of such literature were called Sangam as it was composed and compiled in assemblies of poets held in the city of Madurai. Sangam is a collection of poems in praise and admiration for the chiefs.
