Why..... 1.Iron articles loose their shine gradually? 2.Foods should be kept in air tight containers?

1. Iron articles do not lose their shine, but actually get coated by a layer of rust, because gradually iron reacts with the moisture in the environment and forms iron oxide or rust that covers up the metal's lustrous surface.
2. Foods should be kept in airtight containers, especially oily and fat rich foods, because if kept in open or brought into contact with air, they tend to get oxidised and produce foul, rancid odours. This is called rancidity, and to prevent this, oil and fat-rich foods are kept in airtight containers.
