Coral reefs are found in Tamil Nadu on the east coast of India because these areas provide favourable or suitable conditions for the growth of coral reef. High salinity, optimal temperature, low siltation and low fresh water inflow are essential for the colonization of corals. Coral reef do not colonise in the areas with high siltation and high water flow.
