Why are ruminants able to digest celulose and not human

Dear Student,
Humans cannot digest cellulose because the appropriate enzymes (cellulase) to breakdown the molecules, are lacking in our body. So, Human can't digest cellulose. Some animals cannot digest cellulose directly but can digest with the help of symbiotic bacteria present in their body.
However, ruminangs such as cow are able to digest cellulose because they have the cellulase enzyme required for the digestion of cellulose.

 Regards.
