why arethe fragments cut by exonucleas not used in genetic engineering ?

@Prexha:- Your friends are right- Restriction Endonuclease make cuts  within the specific positions  in the DNA and generates sticky ends while Exonuclease make cuts at the end of DNA segment and generates blunt ends.

@Others:- Good answer, keep posting!!

As it cuts only at the ends of 5' or 3' end of a gene sequence hence not much effective to be used

exonuclease cut the ends of the DNA and endonuclease cut the DNA at specific locations and thats what we want in genetic engineering.
