Why Boron does not react with acids and alkalies?

Boron is an inert element, so it does not react with all acids and alkalies.

  • Boron reacts only with nitric acid forming boric acid.

  • Boron dissolves only in fused alkalies.

2B + 6NaOH (fused) → 2Na3BO3 + 3H2

  • -6
