Why CaO called as quick lime?
What is the meaning of 'quick' here?

Dear student,
Since CaO spontaneously absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere within very little time, so the prefix- Quick is used for addressing that the reaction is quite faster with CO2. After reaction, it forms CaCO3.
Quick here, also means active/alive to distinguish from other compounds such as slaked lime or limestone.
Regards.
