why did citie like Dacca and Murshidabad lose their importance in the mid-19th century?

Murshidabad:
  1. In 1704, Murshid Quli Khan, the Diwan of Bengal under Aurangzeb transferred the capital from Dacca to Murshidabad (the city was renamed by him).
  2. Warren Hastings moved the supreme, civil and criminal courts to Calcutta, and in 1790 the entire Judicial and Revenue were moved to Calcutta.
  3. With attention shifting to machine made factory manufactures, handmade industries such as sarees and scarves made from the silk of the area declined.
Dacca:

In contrary to this, though the capital was moved from Dacca by Murshid Quli Khan, Dacca continued to become more important in the nineteenth century with the British establishing a Cantonment, Civic water supply and electric system.
