why did gandhi ji go to south Africa

MK. Gandhi was an Indian student of Law in the UK . After graduation he went ahead to practice in the British empire .He went to South Africa .He was the only coloured attorney in South Africa . Prejudices against people from colonies were high at that time among the Lords .He was thrown out of first class coach in train for being coloured .Several incidents like theses made him start non-cooperation movement in small scale in south africa. He gathered some like minded friends and strived to remove few taxes for the Africans and Indians working there .In a court trial he once said to the judge “We do not have guns nor do we have any secrets .” So Gandhi’s visit transformed him from a salaryman to a potential freedom fighter .
