Why did it appear to the author that mr. Gessler's elder brother was handling the shop? Mr. Gessler name was missing from the shop. What was the reason?

Dear Student,

The boots made by Mr. Gessler were of good quality. They lasted for a long time. Therefore, the author did not visit him for two years. When he did visit him, he mistook Mr. Gessler for his elder brother. Mr. Gessler had aged. The author could not recognize him.

The author then went abroad. His next visit came years later. By then, Mr. Gessler was dead. Someone else had purchased his shop. Therefore, his name was missing from the shop.

Regards,
