Why did Jo often interrupt the story she was listening to?

Jo was a growing girl with a mind developing much faster than thought of by her father. She would often interrupt the story she was listening to because she had questions to ask and clarifications to seek which displeased Jack. Jo was no longer the wide-eyed little girl who would accept everything that her father told her. She was at the age when a child starts thinking on their own.
