Why did Macavity did not suffer from his crime ???

Macavity is a master criminal because the police can never catch him. He has broken every law but has still managed to escape.
The only alibi the poet talks about in the poem is that Macavity was never caught from the place of crime. So in the absence of evidence, it is impossible to catch him.
Since he was so prompt with his movement, and has been called the "hidden paw" because it was as if he were invisible from the place of the crime; he did not suffer from his crime.
