why did mr.purcell felt vaguely insulted

Dear Student,
Given below is the answer to your question.

Mr. Purcell felt vaguely insulted because the man who had walked into his shop, bought the doves, went outside and freed the birds. This did not amuse the shopkeeper. He was insulted that he had given a discount, only to have a man free the birds that he had just bought.

I hope you find this answer helpful. Please post more questions on the forum to be assisted by our team.

Mr Purcell feel ?vaguely insulted? because the man bought the doves from Purcell?s shop for five dollars and then went outside to set them free. It was Mr. Purcell who had kept these birds in cage and restricted their freedom and the man spent his ten years income only to give the doves freedom, so he felt more insulted.
