Why did Taplow not dare to leave Crocker's class?

Dear student 

Taplow said that he didn't want to cut Crocker-Harris's class as he was afraid of the consequences of doing so. He said he didn't think anyone had ever done it before and said that if he cut, Crokcer Harris would probably punish him, or maybe even follow him home.
