why did th ebuisiness class wanted to protest against the import of foreign goods

Dear Student,
  • During the First World War, Indian vendors and industrialists had made colossal benefits and gotten amazing.
  • Enthusiastic about growing their business, they responded against colonial strategies that confined business exercises.
  • They needed insurance against imports of foreign goods, and a rupee-sterling foreign trade proportion that would debilitate imports. To sort out business interests, they framed the Indian Industrial and Commercial Congress in 1920 and the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) in 1927.
  • Driven by unmistakable industrialists like Purshottamdas Thakurdas and G. D. Birla, the industrialists assaulted colonial power over the Indian economy and upheld the Civil Disobedience Movement when it was first propelled. They gave monetary help and declined to purchase or sell imported goods.
  • Most businessmen came to see Swaraj as when pilgrim limitations on business would never again exist and exchange and industry would thrive without imperatives.
Regards.
