why did the 60 visitors and the 2 water buffaloes die?

Sixty visitors were washed away from the Patanangala beach inside the park as they were not on high ground. They were swept away by the strong waves caused due to the tsunami. The water buffaloes were perhaps wallowing in water and were drowned due to the high waves.
