Why did the evil practice of child marriage become prevalent in India? In spite of the efforts of the government why is this evil still practiced in some parts of the country?

The evil practise of child marriage became prevalent because of the conservatism,ignorance and the old age custom following of such practises .It is still prevalent despite many laws which prohibit from such practises is basically due to the lack of education,too much of conservatism and non-awareness of the effects of this child marriage.
