Why do fish and frogs lay hundreds of eggs?

Because they don't look after the eggs they don't have much chance of surviving, so if they lay hundreds at least 3 or 4 will survive allowing the species to continue.

thumbs up plz........

So they intercourse 100 times???

because they don't look after them and  they have to lay thousands of eggs in water

.....as some are eaten by other animals so more eggs are laid in the hope of survival of at least few of them............

THEY LAY HUNDREDS OF EGGS BECAUSE THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL OF EVERY EGG IS VERY FOR ex OF EVERY TEN EGGS IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM ONLY ONE OR TWO SURVIVE

HOPE DIS HELPS YOU.

@nikhilink no, as you know the male organes produce millions of sperms in a day so, all what male frogs have to do is deposit the sperms on the eggs and each sperm individualy travels to the eggs to fuse with it.

because they refer external fertilisation.. where chances of survival of an offspring is very less..they r vulnerable to many large fishes and animals. so if they produce in small nos then there existence will b threatened...

because they refer external fertilisation in which chances of survival of offspring are very less.

Frog and fishes lay eggs in hundreds because most of the eggs layed by them becomes fuse as they are covered only by a boundary of a jellylylike substance while others flow away, many others are eatrn by other fishes and amphibians and the rest are destroyed so after these all factors only few eggs survive and they also have danger for the rest of their premature stages only few are left to let their species and genration to survive that's why they lay eggs in hundreds.

Because they use external fertilisation. The chances of the surviving of the offspring is very less .However many of them are eaten by other animals.so they lays thousands of eggs at a time.

YES, fish and frog produce a huge number of eggs compare to hens because of the following reasons:

1)External fertilization occurs in fish and frog.

2)The females lays a vast number of eggs in water & males releases some millions of sperms on to them.

3)Eggs may be carried to a long distance by water currents or they may be eaten by predators.

4)So,fertilization is a chance factor & controlled by nature.

Hence it is inevitable to produce a vast number of eggs by fish & frog.

Female frogs lay hundreds of eggs because chances of survival of each egg is less. so they lay hundreds of them with an intension of some of them will survive.
this answer is the most appropriate one.
Thank You.
