why do ionic and molecular solids both have electrostatic force of bonding ? they should have same melting and boiling point due to same force of attraction

Dear Student,

Ionic solid  have electrostatic forces of attraction between the constituent ions. However, molecular solids donot have electrostatic forces of attraction. They are held together by a relatively weak force of attraction i.e. London dispersion forces. Thus, ionic solids have high melting and boiling point than molecular solids.

Because the masses of molecular compound and ionice compound are same so the ionic and molecular solid both have electrostatic force of bonding.
