Why do microorganisms act on dead organisms to decompose them but not on living organisms.?

Dear student,
Micro organisms act on dead organisms to decompose them but not on living organisms because the living organisms are equipped with immune cells such as neutrophils , monocytes etc.. which can act on these micro organisms and cause death of these organisms.
