why do people sprinkle water on the roof after a hot sunny day ?

People sprinkle water on the roof because when this water gets evaporated they take up some of the heat from the roof for the process of evaporation. As some of the heat gets released the roof becomes cooler making the rooms also cool.

we do so as.......... water when evaporates use heat of our house mainly our roof to evaporate........... and hence make our roof cooler......

yeh, because the roof gets cooler.... bt the roof will get hotter if this is done in the after noon

I am glad to say that  on a sunny day people used to sprinkle water on the roof because at first it will give heat and after some time ti will start to produce cool inside.
