why do plants not need a respiratory system?

Plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen directly through pores in their leaves and other tender parts, so they don't need lungs.Plants need carbon dioxide to get the energy out of the food they make. Obviously, plants don't have lungs or gills, so how do they breathe? They breathe through special little holes on the underside of their leaves called stomata.

They do respire absorbing oxygen from the air at night and releasing the carbon dioxide produced by photosynthesis by day.

a respiratory system is to get gases (oxygen/carbon dioxide) into and out of our bodies for cellular respiration.....
Respiration occurs in our cells in the cytoplasm and mitochondria...plants also have mitochondria and do have cellular respiration (at night) but their leaves are the main source of both photosynthesis and cellular respiration.....they are set up with their "circulatory" system...or vascualar system to transport water and the stomata of the leaves do the gas exchange bit....
Plants and animals are quite different and hence why they are put in different kingdoms as major processes like this are different.

The plants do not have any special respiratory  organs such as lungs or gills. The plant have large surface area in proportion to their volume and the gaseous exchange occur in them by diffusion through stomata.

Plants take in carbon dioxide through holes on the undersides of their leaves known as stoma or pores. However, most plants require little air. Most plants haverelatively few living cells outside of their surface because air (which is required for metabolic content) can penetrate only skin deep.

1)They have all their parts exposed to the environment. And different parts are respiring independently.
2)During photosynthesis,Co2 is utilized and O2 is released. And this O2 is used for respiration.
3)The energy requirements of plants is much lower compared to those in animals.

Plants take in CO2( carbon dioxide ) and absorb it and then it gives out O2( oxygen )...

Plants do not have lungs or any respiratory orgam in themeselves so they dont need the process of repiration.

plants have other aerial parts such as stomata, root hair, lenticels.so they do not have respiratory system.each part of plant respire individually

Plants do not need respiratory system because roots , stems, leaves of plants exchange gases for respiration separately. They have tiny pores called stomata for the exchange of gases and also plants need carbon dioxide to get the energy out of the food they make ( or to carry photosynthesis), which is also done through stomata. They don't have lungs to breathe so they don't need a respiratory system. They have stomata.

plant can get along without any respiratory organ because:
1- each plant can take care of its own gas exchange needs. there is a little transport of gas from one plant part to another.
2- plant do not present great demand for gas exchanfe.root, steam , leaves respire at rate faw lower than animal.only during photosynthesis are large volume of gases exchange and each leaves is well adapted to take care of its own need during this periods . when cell photosynthesis ,availability of o2 is not a problem in these cells since o2 is release within the cell

THEY DO CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT AIR , THERE LUNGS ARE THE LEAVES , I VAGUELY REMEMBER AT SCHOOL  PUTTING VASELINE ON A LEAF PLUS SOME BLACK PAPER ON ANOTHER AND NOTING THE CONSEQUENSE...
BUT IT BACK TO FRONT YO HUMANS ETC ..

why do human have hair

why do plants not need a specialised respiratory system
  • 1
1.As each plant part takes care of it's own gaseous exchange needs, that there is very little transport of gases from one plant part to another plant part . 2.As there is presence of roots, stems, leaves they respirate through pores ,so there is no necessity for lungs or gills.

They are correct

Plants do not need a respiratory system (Lungs) as they have tiny pores(stomata) on their leaves which help in gaseous exchange.
  • 2
Every living cell in the plant is present very close to the plant surface which facilitates easy exchange of gases. Also, oxygen availability is not an issue since oxygen is produced during photosynthesis.
