why do polar bear hibernates in winter?

Polar bears hibernate during winters to conserve energy. In winters, the environmental conditions are very harsh and there is scarcity of food. So, polar bears undergo a period of hibernation in the form of metabolic suppression to keep warm and conserve energy. They become metabolically less active and even recycle their proteins and urine.

Hibernation is the winter-long sleep . Animals hibernate because of the unfavourable conditions outside . Polar bears hibernate in winter because there is not much food available, and it is extremely cold(esp. in winter). They need to conserve as much energy as possible to stay warm and they do this by hibernation.
