why do porters put cloth on their head while carrying heavy loads?

Placing the load on the turban increases the area on which the load is placed i.e. the area of contact of the load increases. When the area on which pressure of the load is exerted increases, the pressure per unit area decreases. As a result, the pressure on their heads get readuced. This is why porters wear turbans while carrying heavy loads.

pressure and area r inversely proportional i.e. if one increases the other decreases . when porters put cloth on their heads it increases the surface area . thus the pressure on their head decreases and they can carry the load easily no need  of thnx

in the expression "pressure=force/area" the area is in the denominator. thus increasing the area of contact will lead to decrease in pressure. when porters place a piece of cloth, the area of contact of the load with their head increases leading to decrease in pressure. this way they find it easier to carry the load

Coolie or porter place a round piece of cloth on their heads, when they haave to carry heavy loads.By doing this they increase the area of contact of the load with their head. So, the pressure on their head is reduced and they find it easier to carry the load.

Pressure = force/ unit area. The more the surface area the less the pressure as the force gets splitted in all directions. when porters use a round piece of cloth around their heads then they are actually increasing the surface area of contanct and reducing pressure.
