why do pressure cookers have plastic handles

Plastic is insulator of heat. Thus while cooking when the cooker gets extremely heated, handles are comparatively cooler to hold . Metals are a good conductor of heat. If the handles are also happened to be made up of metal it also becomes as hot as the body and we cannot hold it.

they have plastic handles because the plastics which are used in handles are made up of  thermosetting plastics which do not melt on heating .

because if it would be a metal handle being a conductor of heat and electricity,,,,,it would conduct heat and electricity and we may get our handa burnt or get a electric shock........so to avoid this....plastic is used as it is a insulator of both heat and eleatricity
