There are three possible reasons for Scoliodon to do constant swimming:
- They are cartilaginous fishes, and they do not have swim bladders so they have to maintain the buoyancy, by keep swimming.
- Their respiratory system remains active by continuous flow of water in and out of it.
- They are poikilothermic or cold blooded organisms so they need to do the mechanical work to maintain their internal body temperature.
