Why do solids generally lack the property of diffusion?

Solids lack the property of diffusion because the particles in the solids are closely arranged leaving very little inter molecular space.

because its interparticle space is less than liquid and gases

The particles of the solids have less inter-molecular spaces between them which does not allow free movement of particles. The particles can only move about their mean position. Thus solids lack the property of diffusion and instead are rigid.

solids have more inter particular force of attraction and less knetic energy, which is required for the particlaes to become excited. also the inter molecular space is less

They can diffuse, but it takes time and also it is rare. Ex : (Writing with chalk on a black board)

Solids are too closely packed even more than liquid and gases

the intermolecular space between solids is very less, which don't allow them to move. this is the reason why solids lack the property of diffusion
hope it helps
