Why do synthetic fibres generate static electricity??

Synthetic fabrics are made of chemicals consisting of long- chain molecules that have lots of loosely bound electrons on the outside. It is these loosely-held electrons that get rubbed off and stick to other materials, and form static electricity.
Natural fibres tend to have shorter chains of molecules that are more tightly bound, so they don’t “jump” as easily or as often.
