why do the water of ocean or sea is salty

Hi,

Ocean water is salty because it contains dissolved salts and minerals in it which imparts salinity to it. Rivers fall into oceans which carry with themselves salts of soil and thus when so many rivers with soil salts fall into ocean, the sea water becomes very salty.

the salt inthe sand is carried by oceans and seas which also makes the rainwater to be salty

Salt doesn't evaporate when water evaporates. Clouds are formed from evaporating water from the sea, mostly, and are therefore not salty. The clouds rain down onto the land, and the rain absorbs some of the salt from the soil. The rain flows back down to the sea, adding a little bit of salt to it constantly. Over millions of years, this makes the sea salty.

We all know that water in oceans comes from the water from rivers. When the water from rivers flow into the sea, it also carries some mineral salts ( sodium chloride ) along with it, which comes from the rocks over which the river flows. This the main reason why sea and ocean water are salty.

All water, even rain water, contains dissolved chemicals which scientists call "salts." But not all water tastes salty. Water is fresh or salty according to individual judgment, and in making this decision man is more convinced by his sense of taste than by a laboratory test. It is one's taste buds that accept one water and reject another.

A simple experiment  illustrates this. Fill three glasses with water from the kitchen faucet. Drink from one and it tastes fresh even though some dissolved salts are naturally present. Add a pinch of table salt to the second, and the water may taste fresh or slightly salty depending on a personal taste threshold and on the amount of salt held in a "pinch." But add a teaspoon of salt to the third and your taste buds vehemently protest that this water is too salty to drink; this glass of water has about the same salt content as a glass of sea water.
Obviously, the ocean, in contrast to the water we use daily, contains unacceptable amounts of dissolved chemicals; it is too salty for human consumption.

 Hi,

Everyone knows that the water from the rains contains salt. When it rains the rain is drops in the ocens make that water also salty.....

The most thing to know is that all the mamals except some mamals sweat e.g. dog sweat from its tongue... The sweat contains salt which dissolves in the ocean water.

But Mam,

Why do the water in rivers is salty?

i guess thats the same for rivers n seas also jus like the ocean

obviously because all water mixed into the seas and oceans contains dissolved salts, man!
