WHY DO WE NEED STANDARD TIME AND WHAT IS STANDARD MERIDIAN?
If a country is vast, there is a need to maintain an uniform time all over the country. If there is different time at different places, then it would be confusing. Hence to remove this confusion, the Standard Time is used, which is uniform throughout the country. In India, 82o30'E is taken as the Standard Meridian.
