WHY DO WE RESPIRE?
Respiration is a process that involves exchange of gases and breakdown of food in the cells for the production of energy. All organisms require energy to perform different activities. This energy is produced in the body during the process of respiration in the form of ATP.
C6H12O6 + 6O2 ---> 6CO2 + 6H2O+38ATP
when cell requires energy,hydrolysis of ATP occurs and energy is released.
