WHY DO WE RESPIRE?
Respiration is a process that involves exchange of gases and breakdown of food in the cells for the production of energy. All organisms require energy to perform different activities. This energy is produced in the body during the process of respiration in the form of ATP.
C6H12O6 + 6O2 ---> 6CO2 + 6H2O+38ATP
when cell requires energy,hydrolysis of ATP occurs and energy is released.
all machines need energy to run.all automobiles need petrol or diesal to run.our body also needs energy for its various activities.this energy is produced in our body from the food we take. the food we take has stored chemical energy in it.this energy is released when food is digested and the components of the digested food react with oxygen in the cells.this process is called respiration.
