Why does a cheetah need to slow down a little while running or chasing a prey?? Please help

Dear Student,

Cheetah can run very fast, in fact faster than any other land animal. Cheetah has many physical features that supports it to run so fast.
It has very strong upper legs. Body weight is light and it has flexible spine. It acts as a spring and helps this animal to run  fast
It has long tail for counterbalance that is helpful during running. It has big lungs and big nostrils, by the help of which it can take plenty of oxygen while running . This feature is very essential for the muscles to work efficiently during running.

But, having these features also, its gets warm very easily. Therefore, it needs to slow down to revive itself and to cool itself.

Hey!! Hope this helps!!

On seeing the prey, an impulse is sent from the brain to the muscles in it?s limbs so that the cheetah can run towards the prey.

Muscles have special proteins that change both their shape and their arrangement in the cells, new arrangement of the proteins give different forms to the muscle cells, i.e. Shorter or Larger form.

Therefore, the cheetah is able to run after the prey due to the arrangement of cellular components (proteins) in the muscles.
