why does a doctor put a glucose drip to a patient who has just been operated

The patients who are being operated will not be able to eat solid or liquid food from mouth because they will be given anaesthesia. They won’t be able to digest food also. The patient needs energy to perform all the basic life process. So,doctor puts them on glucose drips. Glucose being the simplest form of carbohydrate goes directly into the blood and gets easily absorbed by all the cells of the body.

because the patient is required to eat nothng before an operation...... glucose provides energy to person on a faster rate and it gets dissolved in blood faster.....
