why does a government school can not celebrate any religious function?

a. Indian Secularism is based on the principle of Equal respect for all religions, where State respects every religious community and their sentiments.
b. The state will not promote any particular religion nor it will discriminate anybody on the basis of religion.
c. It is in this context, government schools which are part of state institutions, does not celebrate any religions function.
d. Government schools pay equal respect to all religions, will not promote any particular religion in the school.
e. It is constitutionally prohibited.

Government schools cannot promote any one religion either in their morning prayers or through religious celebration because the celebration of the religious festival within the school would have been a violation of the government`s policy of treating all religions equally.
