why does colour of copper sulphate solutions change when an iron nail is dipped in it?
when an iron nail is placed in a copper sulphate solution solution, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution forming iron sulphate, which is light green in colour. It is because iron is more reactive than copper.

@ hello Anu,
When an iron nail is placed in a copper sulphate solution, iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution forming iron sulphate, which is green in colour.Therefore, the blue colour of copper sulphate solution fades and green colour appears.Heres the equation .............. CuSO4 +Fe _____> FeSO4 +Cu
Hope this helps you ........!! Cheers @ thumps up :)

When an iron nail is dipped in the copper sulphate solution than iron displaces copper from the copper sulphate because iron is more reactive than copper. Therfore, the colour of the copper sulphate solution changes.
The reaction involved here is:
Fe(s)+CuSO4(aq) -------------> FeSO4(aq)+Cu(s)
The reaction involved here is:
Fe(s)+CuSO4(aq) -------------> FeSO4(aq)+Cu(s)
