Why does conventional current flows from positive terminal to negetive terminal of a circuit and not from negetive terminal to positive terminal?

In a closed circuit connected with a battery, conventional current is the direction of current which is assumed to be flowing from positive terminal of the battery towards the negative terminal. It is opposite to the flow of the direction of electrons which flow from negative terminal to the positive terminal of the battery.

becausein earlier times it was beleived that everthing flows from higher concentration to lower concentration that's why they concludedcurrent flows formm positive terminal of battery to negative terminal of battery but later by experiments it was found that current flows from negative terminal to positive terminal
