Why does drain water smell foul?

Dear Student, 

Drain water have biodegradable things, waste etc so when microorganisms decompose these things it produces foul / undesirable smell. 
The smell is caused due to Hydrogen sulfide gas.

Dear friend
Because it consist of garbage, human excrete, animal dung and decayed things .
This produce bacteria from which smell comes .

The drain water smell foul because all waste collect at one place . That's why drainage blocked .

Drain water smells foul because of the presence of chemicals present in soap and detergents which do not dissolve in water and react with organic wastes that enter the water and also because of the reason I told you earlier
