why does finely powdered aluminium become hazardous when exposed to air?

The solution is as follows:

Aluminium is a reactive metal. When exposed to air it readily oxidises and the reaction is exothermic. But, if the amount of aluminium and surface area is less, the reaction is not violent. However, finely powdered aluminium is having large surface area and thus, if inhaled or left in air is very dangerous.
