Why does Grammy say that ' Children are life's rainbow ' in the poem 'Children of the Rainbow' by C.J. Heck ?

According to Grammy children may have different skin tones just a wonderful rainbow does, but tone of the skin doesn't matter because important thing is that what you feel inside and what type of person you are.
