Why does horace danby get angry when someone talk about honour among thieves

Honour among thieves basically means that thieves too have?some self-esteem and they do not cheat on other thieves. However, Horace got angry whenever anyone talked about this because he himself was cheated by a lady thief. He had landed up in the prison because of her.
