Why does physisorption decrease with increase in temperatures.

Dear student

thanks and regards

Because physisorption is exothermic reaction

Adsorption leads to a decrease in the residual forces on the surface of the adsorbent. This causes a decrease in the surface energy of the adsorbent. Therefore, adsorption is always exothermic. (ii) ΔH of adsorption is always negative.

Physisorption is an exothermic process as it involves formation of the bonds between adsorbate and the adsorbent molecules which releases some amount of energy. Hence Physisorption decreases with the increase in temperature
