Why does phytol tail of chlorophyll molecule anchor it to the HYDROPHOBIC portion of the thylakoid?

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Chlorophyll molecule is made up porphyrin ring with a magnesium atom at the centre that absorbs light and a long phytol tail that embeds or attaches the chlorophyll molecule to the membrane of thylakoid. This attachment is necessary as the enzymes and other accessory proteins necessary for the formation of photosystems and occurrence of light dependent reaction of photosynthesis are associated with the thylakoid membrane.

Hope this information will clear your doubts about the phytol tail of chlorophyll.
