Why does the authour says the baker to be his friend , companion and guide.

Dear Student.

The baker used to come twice a day and his arrival brought joy for the children. The jingling thud of his bamboo woke the children up and they would run to him to eat the bread bangles brought by him, only to be scolded by him. The baker used to be their friend, guide and companion during those visits.
