Why does the poet call rain earthly life?

Hi!
The poet draws a parallel between the Rain and an earthly life. The Rain nourishes the plants and trees and flowers and fields, it gives life to the flora and fauna and also it dies by showering itself over the fields. It rises from the various water bodies through evaporation which is its birth; its dies a death, the poet describes like a mortal one, by showering down its weight over the fields like shedding tears of heaven. Yet, the death of the Rain is an honourable one, as it serves the humanity and the flora and fauna while it dies. And so is the life of the Rain.

The poet conveys that the rain is a divine. He finds a parallel between arrival and departure. The poet also compares rain with human cycles as we have a birth and death , as the rain arrives and departs.

Hope this helps !

Also, When the poet says - wings of death- , he means that rain starts its journey in the stormy sky and the fast winds, but ends it in complete silence...

Every mortal being on earth is bound to go through a define life cycle. The boundary of earthly life is definite. In the poem “Song of the Rain”, rain has been personified as a living being bound to a life cycle. Like every other thing on earth, rain moves in a circular way by coming back to its origin where it rises up from. From this perspective, the poet Kahlil Gibran is right in describing rain as ‘earthly life’.

The poet call rain an earthly life because it gives life to many organisms to survive, such as it gives water to plants, animals , and humans too.
