why does the poet Compare the school boy to a dying plant

The poet compares the school boy to a dying plant because the childhood of the child is killed by sitting for long hours in the school. The boy likes to wander about in the garden and enjoy the summer's sun, but he has to sit in a crammed classroom and thus his childhood dies a death just like a plant that is not watered.
