WHY DOESNOT THE LYSOSOMAL ENZYME DESTROY ITS OWN CELL CYTOPLASM

Lysosomes are covered by a single membrane which keeps the hydrolytic enzymes present inside lysosomes out of contact from the cellular contents. Lysosme is itself protected from these enzymes by high glycosylation of its lipids and proteins.
